Mr. McElwrath, before joining Far East Energy, was Vice President of TMP/Hudson Global Resources, the parent company of Monster.com. He served as Acting Assistant Secretary of Energy in the first Bush Administration, charged with development of the nation’s coal, oil, and gas policies and with management of $2.1 billion in programs including the Clean Coal Program, the National Oil and Gas Research Program, and the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. He was an International Negotiator and Policy Advisor in the Reagan administration. Upon leaving the Bush Administration he served as Director of the National Institute for Petroleum and Energy Research and Director of British Petroleum’s outsourced exploration and production lab for the Americas. Mr. McElwrath holds a JD from the University of Texas School of Law, as well as a BA Honors Program.
On May 13, 2013, Far East Energy Corporation appointed Jennifer D. Whitley as Chief Financial Officer. Ms. Whitley served as the interim Chief Financial Officer of the Company since February 2013 and Director of Finance of the Company since January 2011. Prior to joining the Company in 2011, Ms. Whitley served as the Chief Financial Officer of Zero Emission Energy Plants Ltd, a mid-stream international energy company focused in Louisiana and China, from 2008 to 2010. From 2006 to 2008, Ms. Whitley served as the Finance Director of Global Energy Development PLC where she was responsible for all of the financial, accounting, and administrative matters for the UK listed company’s international oil exploration and production operations. Previously, Ms. Whitley worked at Harken Energy Corporation and on the audit staff of Ernst & Young LLP. Mrs. Whitley is a Certified Public Accountant and serves on the board of Zero Emission Energy Plants, as well as the board of the Houston Chapter of Financial Executives International. She also serves as Chairman of the Youth Development Center and on the Advisory Board of MentorConnect. She is a graduate of Abilene Christian University and a Certified Public Accountant.
Dr. Yang is a well-known geologist, and is recognized as a preeminent CBM expert in China. He received his PhD in Geology from Texas A&M University and has 22 years of working experience in China’s energy industry and universities (teaching and research). He was among the pioneers in introducing CBM exploration and production to China and assisted CUCBM in its early stages of formation. From 1993 to 2001, he worked as Chief Geologist and Senior Consultant for Amoco/Arco/BP CBM projects in the Ordos and Qinshui Basins in North China, and played a leading role in developing their projects and operations. Also, Dr. Yang has established personal/business relationships with numerous key people in the Chinese government and energy industry (CUCBM, PetroChina, Sinopec, China University of Mining and Technology, and China National Administration of Coal Geology), which greatly benefits FEEC’s project execution and business development in China.
Ms. Le joined Far East Energy (Bermuda) Ltd. (FEEB) in July 2005 as Controller. In 2007 Ms. Le was appointed CFO and Vice President – Government Relations; and in 2010 was appointed President of FEEB. Prior to joining FEEB, Ms. Le was employed by Consolidated Edison Company of New York (2000-2005) as Senior Planning Specialist and also by Amerada Hess and PriceWaterhouse Coopers. Ms. Le holds a BBA in Accounting from the University of Texas and a Masters of Professional Accounting.
Mr. Hockert joined Far East Energy (Bermuda) Ltd. (FEEB) in September 2008 as Operations Manager, and in 2010 was named China Country Manager. Mr. Hockert has spent most of his 29 year career in the coalbed methane industry. Prior to joining FEEB, Mr. Hockert owned and operated a coalbed methane company in the Powder River Basin, as well as an oil and gas service company focused on providing complete CBM integrated services including leasing, geological evaluation, drilling, completion, gathering and commodity sales and lease operations. From 1993 to 1998, Mr. Hockert served as Senior Manager for the Halliburton District in Western Siberia.
